exploring nature…

I grew up outside: playing in the woods, digging in the garden, running wild around the neighborhood until being called home for dinner. Now, many years later, I continue to spend my time outdoors: hiking, gardening, just being outside observing the small details amidst the grand vistas of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Photography is the creative tool I’ve used in a career of taking pictures in commercial and advertising photography, studio work and teaching B&W darkroom and camera skills to high schoolers and young adults. I’ve been known to say that “looking through the viewfinder of my camera changes the way I see the world” and this is, in fact, an extension to my exploration. My camera provides me an opportunity to slow down, to think and absorb what I’m seeing and to be in the moment. Naturally it’s a good fit and a magical tool for “turning the ordinary into extraordinary,” a phenomenon that often reminds me of how special and limitless photography can be.
