At the Monero Mustang Refuge in Northern New Mexico

Kim Kurian Hiner was raised in St. Louis and later moved to Santa Fe in the 1990s. The Land of Enchantment has become her home. She has worked as a professional photographer in New Mexico with such clients as Outside Magazine, Nambé, Merrill Lynch, Ten Thousand Waves and numerous Santa Fe artists and galleries. Kim’s work has been published in nature, land conservation, lifestyle and architectural books, magazines and other publications including The Folklife Center News of the American Folklife Center at The Library of Congress. She has worked for the Santa Fe New Mexican as the advertising photographer, responsible for publications such as The Real Estate Guide, Indian Market, Folk Art Market, and Spanish Market magazines. Additionally, Kim taught photography at Desert Academy, where she introduced high school students to her love of darkroom photography and the use of analog cameras and black and white film. Kim is passionate about gardening, her dogs, being outdoors and the arts. She enjoys yoga, meditation and volunteering at The Horse Shelter and The New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding where she has an opportunity to work with people with disabilities and personal challenges while learning about the care and pleasure of being around horses.
